GAT - Geologic Atlas of Texas
The Geologic Atlas of Texas was created as part of the conversion of the 1:250,000 University of Texas, Bureau of Economic Geology Geologic Atlas of Texas map sheets. Although TNRIS has used this dataset, caution should be taken when applying a regionally generalized dataset to a local area. This dataset is a mapping of surficial geology for the State of Texas. Its purpose is to provide a statewide assemblage of surficial geology for use by engineers, geologists, hydrologists, soil scientists, environmentalists, and related professionals whose analysis depends on the location of surface geology in Texas.
The GAT is available in two formats, raster and vector. The raster version is available for download on our web site in three different projections, the original Transverse Mercator, Collared UTM NAD 83, and Collarless WGS 84. The vector version is available on DVD as a statewide ESRI ArcGIS 9.1 Personal Geodatabase, and can be purchased from TNRIS for $56 plus shipping and handling.
